
In 2018, Luxembourgers spent, on average, 15.8% of their income on transport, placing the country in second position across Europe, on a par with Lithuania and second only to Slovenia (16.9%)
These expenses amounted to nearly 3.165 billion euros for the Grand Duchy, or approximately €5,200 per person. It is the second largest expense item after housing.
Other countries which rank highly are Cyprus (14.7%), France (14.1%) and Germany (13.8%). The Czech Republic, Croatia and Slovakia spend the least amount on transport, between 10.4% and 6.6%.
