The fight, which kicked off in a car park in Foetz, was reported to police at around 5 am. Security personnel at the scene informed police officers that one of the assailants was armed with a firearm. Once officers noticed the weapon in question, they ordered the man to drop the weapon. The man was taken into custody with great difficulty.
Another man attempted to hit a police officer on the head with a bottle, but was unsuccessful. The officer was nevertheless injured as he was punched in the face. The police were forced to use pepper spray on those involved in the fight, but the situation only de-escalated once reinforcements arrived at the scene. A second police officer was also injured.
The police seized both the gun (a 32-calibre revolver) and the bottle. Two people were arrested upon the order of the public prosecutor's office.
The incident came after police had to break up a number of other fights throughout the night.
