Both OGBL and ADESP, the association of police officers with secondary education diplomas, have issued a statement criticising the government's new recruitment strategy.

The ADESP union union welcomes the installation of a security department, but regrets that salaries have not yet been revised when it comes to the adequate remuneration of secondary education diplomas. Currently, ADESP is advising pupils not to graduate secondary school if  they are determined to join the police force within the B1 career system.

Further criticism is directed at the annulment of pertinent training courses that have already taken place, or are still bound to take place as a consequence of the reform. The army's tactical training at the Härebierg headquarters will thus no longer be part of police education.

Moreover, ADESP remains sceptical about the opening up of the academy to EU nationals that do not have a Luxembourgish passport. This decision would have been taken by the government without proper consultation with any of the unions.
