In a post placed online yesterday evening, Ville de Luxembourg made the extraordinary announcement of cancelling events up to June this year.
This message puts them out of step with the current government recommendations of the coronavirus spread being contained in a matter of weeks.
The post reads (available also in Fr. via vdl.lu):
"In light of the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and the crisis situation declared by the government, which has been extended by the Chamber of Deputies to last for three months, all sports and cultural events as well as activities scheduled during this period have been cancelled. This new guideline applies not only to all events organised by the City of Luxembourg, but also to those organised by their partners or external organisers."
This means that the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg and the Roll & Run race (scheduled to be held on May 23 2020), the COSL Spillfest (21 May), Olympic Day (12 June) and "Rencontres sans frontières" (14 June) have been cancelled.
Obviously Luxembourg's 'party people' are fearing the worst for the Duke's Birthday celebrations.
More on this to follow after Taina Bofferding's press conference later today.
