Weather warningYellow alert for storms to cover Luxembourg on Monday afternoon

Meteolux has issued a yellow alert (potential danger) for storms, starting on Monday afternoon.

The alert will cover the afternoon from 3pm and last until 8pm. Meteolux forecasts heavy rains throughout the country, which could read ten to 15 litres per square metre in very little time.

The following advice applies in the event of a storm:

• Ahead of a storm starting, make sure to safely secure any objects which could be blown away by wind (garden furniture, parasols, etc),
• Do not take cover underneath trees, especially isolated trees,
• If you do happen to be in an exposed area, squat as low as possible with your feet together, head between folded arms pressed against your knees,
• Avoid going for walks in forests,
• Avoid using cable telephones and electronic devices,
• Report any fires starting quickly,
• Remain updated on the weather situation and adapt your behaviour based on the development of the weather.

The remainder of the week will see Tuesday and Wednesday as rather cloudy and rainy with temperatures between 10 and 15°C.

The weather is then likely to improve and become drier on Thursday and Friday.
