At least three and a half hectares of woodland have burned in Habay-la-Neuve, according to the town’s mayor, Olivier Barthélemy, who shared images of the damage on Facebook. Firefighters have been working to extinguish the last remaining hotspots to prevent the fire from reigniting. Authorities warn that certain areas of the forest remain dangerous and require particular caution, with ongoing efforts to secure the site.
The large plume of smoke could also be seen from Luxembourg, especially in areas close to the Belgian border, as reported by several social media users on Wednesday.
