Authorities from 21 countries joined forces for a major week-long operation aimed at disrupting cybercrime networks. During the coordinated action, more than 75,000 individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities online were identified and issued formal written warnings. Police arrested four suspects and identified 53 locations believed to have been used for illicit operations, of which 25 have already been searched or are scheduled to be searched.

The countries participating in this international effort were Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Within Luxembourg, the Police Judiciary Service carried out a search on 13 April, at the request of the Diekirch prosecutor’s office. The search targeted a site suspected of being used to organise digital attacks, resulting in the seizure of computer equipment. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities emphasise the presumption of innocence for all individuals involved.

The Luxembourg police also remind the public that interfering with IT services constitutes a criminal offence and can result in prosecution.
