The Luxembourg-based architecture firm STDM had deliberately designed the pavilion for Expo 2025 in Osaka so that various elements and technical systems could be reused after the event. The building was constructed from Japanese materials so that it is easy to dismantle and redeploy, in line with the principles of the circular economy. Following the exhibition, the Luxembourg Pavilion was recognised as the most sustainable among all participants.

Some of the pavilion’s concrete foundation blocks have since found a new home in a leisure park in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. There, they are being used to prevent soil erosion, forming part of a 150-metre gallery named the “Expo 2025 Legacy Wall 'The Loop'”.
In addition, sections of the lightweight membrane roof from the pavilion were recycled in Osaka into accessories and waterproof bags, which visitors could already pre-order during the Expo 2025.
