
In Bielefeld, Germany, police shot and killed an armed man on Tuesday. According to police, the man ran towards the officers holding a weapon, prompting them to open fire on him. The man was fatally struck by a bullet. Nothing is known about his identity so far.
Before the incident, a woman had informed police that she had locked her boyfriend, who was carrying a weapon, inside her apartment. She herself had managed to flee the building. Police then responded to the scene with several units, including a special operations unit, and established a security perimeter around the building.
The man eventually appeared outside the building and ran towards the officers with a weapon. When asked, a police spokesperson declined to say exactly what type of weapon was involved, citing the ongoing investigation.
