An 18-month-old child has died after being accidentally run over by a car on Wednesday in Grostenquin, in the Moselle department. Her father was the one at the wheel.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon, shortly after 2pm, in Grostenquin, Moselle. According to Le Républicain Lorrain, the father was driving when the little girl wandered away from her parents' sight. She was struck as her father was manoeuvring at the entrance to the Capfun de la Tensch campsite.
A large emergency response was deployed to the scene. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the girl, but were unable to save her. The father, aged 45, underwent driving aptitude tests which came back negative. Originally from Stuttgart, he had just arrived at the campsite with his wife and four children. Police took witness statements from those present. All the indications suggest a tragic accident.
A psychological support unit has been set up to help the family through this difficult time.
