Freda Deed and Fionnuala Price from Think Pink Luxembourg joined the Sam Steen Show on RTL Today Radio this morning to share details of the upcoming event, which takes place this Sunday in Dudelange.
“This is not a running race,” Deed explained. “It’s a race to find a cure for cancer. It’s about solidarity and showing that we care about our community.”
For the first time, the Race for the Cure will take place twice in one year, with the addition of this spring event alongside the usual autumn edition.
The Dudelange race will start and finish at the Nic Biever Sports Hall, with participants able to choose between two routes of 4km and 7km through a more natural, trail-style setting.
“It’s through the woods, it’s uphill, it’s more of a trail this time,” Deed said, adding that the focus remains firmly on participation rather than competition. Whether walking, jogging or running, the event is open to everyone, with the aim of bringing people together in support of cancer research and awareness.
The event takes place on Sunday April 19th, with check-in opening at 9:00 and the first participants setting off at 10:00. The final departures are scheduled for 10:30.
Organisers are encouraging participants to register online in advance, although it will also be possible to sign up on the day.
All funds raised will go towards supporting breast cancer research and local initiatives, including projects linked to the Luxembourg Institute of Health.
Think Pink Luxembourg has been active in the country since 2009, working to raise awareness, provide support to those affected by cancer and fund research.
Events like Race for the Cure play a key role in that mission, bringing the community together while raising vital funds. With participation growing year on year, organisers are hoping this new spring edition will help push numbers even higher.
“Don’t make a liar out of me,” Sam joked on air, referring to his promise to help Think Pink Luxembourg reach their goal of reaching 1,000 participants across the events this year.
Participants can register now via the official website:
