While the unemployment rate remains stable, the number of jobseekers continues to rise

While the unemployment rate remains stable, the job market in Luxembourg is showing contrasting signals, as the number of jobseekers continues to rise. The increase is notable amongst people with qualifications, while employers say the amount of vacant posts is growing steadily.

As of 31 March 2026, ADEM reported 20,491 resident jobseekers – an increase of 8.4% on last year. This increase is particularly affecting qualified individuals aged 30 to 44 (+17.4%), and roles such as secretarial work, IT, and accounting. Despite this information, however, the rate remains 6.3%.

The number of newly-registered jobseekers grew slightly by 3.2%, while the number of full unemployment beneficiaries dropped by 7.1%. Employment support measures remained virtually unchanged.
Among non-residents, the increase is more pronounced: 4,354 registered, representing a 25.4% rise. Voluntary registrations without financial assistance jumped up by 45.8%.
