It's not unusual... to want to see the legendary Sir Tom Jones live. After all, he's carved himself a unique niche in the music world with his singular – and quite saucy – voice.

Born on 7 June, 1940 in Treforest, Wales, he began his singing career early, performing at weddings, family gatherings, and in the school choir. A tuberculosis diagnosis at age 12 nearly ended his career prematurely. But after two years of bedrest, his strength (and dulcet baritone voice) returned.

It was from here that Sir Tom embarked on his career, rising to prominence during the 1960s (culminating in the 1966 Grammy for Best New Artist) and reaching the heights of success in the 1970s. It was the era of perms, bowties, and smoky lounges – Tom Jones' natural habitat.

During this time, Tom Jones introduced some of his most famous tunes, still loved by lover-boys and -girls the world over. You've probably heard Delilah, She's A Lady, What's New Pussycat, and/or It's Not Unusual. Chances are you've heard these songs more than once.

From the mid-1960s until 2011, Tom Jones maintained a near-permanent presence on the Las Vegas stage, lending the soundtrack to Sin City nightlife.

A career reinvention in 1987 – propelled by his legendary cover of Prince's Kiss with the Art of Noise – saw a resurgence in interest for Jones' sound.

Indeed, it wasn't until 1999 that Jones produced on his most iconic tracks, Sex Bomb, as part of his Reload album. By this point, he was a legendary figure with a legendary voice. If you've ever seen the music video for Sex Bomb, you'll know that very few could actually pull something like that off.

Since his knighting in 2006 by Queen Elizabeth II, he's enjoyed the fruits of his career – including the odd stopover in Luxembourg. If you're in the market for two tickets to his next show on 30 June at Rockhal, you might just be in luck.
