Former Paris Saint-Germain women's star Aminata Diallo is to stand trial on charges relating to the assault on her ex-teammate in 2021, according to a court order issued Friday and seen by AFP.

Diallo, 31, is believed by the investigating magistrate to have ordered the attack on her fellow former French international teammate and guided the attackers to where the assault took place.

She is charged with complicity in violence and criminal conspiracy.

Six others will go on trial alongside her. The date for the trial has yet to be announced.

In November 2021, Hamraoui was attacked by two masked men, who hit her on her knees with iron bars, after returning from a team dinner in a car with Diallo.

"After five long years of the case being investigated, it is a huge relief they have reached a conclusion and soon there will be a trial," Hamraoui's lawyers Julia Minkowski and Said Harir told AFP in a statement.

"The whole truth will finally come out in this violent affair which is so rare in football, indeed sport, in which the victim was subjected to an unconscionable campaign of harassment following the assault."

Diallo's defence team claimed there had been a lack of fairness in the investigation.

"There has neither been a punishment nor questions posed about the methods used in the investigation regarding Aminata Diallo, which is also peppered with false statements," said Romain Ruiz, one of her four-lawyer defence team.

"It's as if she has been crying in the desert for four years. We will call out her innocence till the final day of her trial."

Hamraoui, 36, lost when she took PSG to a labour court last year claiming damages of 3.5 million-euro ($4m) alleging she was forced out of the club following the assault.

Hamraoui was seeking damages from her former club, alleging a lack of support.

She claimed she was "ostracised" on the pitch, in the changing room and suffered harassment on social media.

As a result she was forced to leave the Parisian club in 2023 to join less prestigious clubs, first in Mexico and then Saudi Arabia.
