1. Sporting event of the year

What: ING night marathon
Where: Luxembourg City

Some might even go as far as saying it's not only the sporting event of the year, but the event of the year. The ING Night Marathon brings the whole city to life, with 18,000 runners registered for this year's edition and countless performances lining the streets to keep the atmosphere buzzing from start to finish. From the start line to Limpertsberg and beyond, there are plenty of hotspots to catch the action – just wander through the city and you’'e bound to find something to enjoy.

2. Free museum visits

What: Luxembourg Museum Days
Where: 36 museums across the country

For the 29th edition of the annual Luxembourg Museum Days, 36 museums throughout the country will be welcoming visitors free of charge this weekend, 16–17 May, inviting the public to explore their collections and exhibitions without an entry fee. Participating museums will be open from 10am to 6pm on both days. In addition to the permanent and temporary exhibitions usually available, the cultural weekend will offer an expanded programme, including workshops, guided tours, performances, and concerts tailored for both children and adults. 3. A world of flavour

What: International Street Food Festival
Where: Metzeschmelz, Esch-sur-Alzette

Food, music, and a great atmosphere come together at the International Street Food Festival Luxembourg at Metzeschmelz in Esch/Schifflange. Visitors can taste street food specialties from around the world, from savoury dishes to sweet treats, prepared by international vendors passionate about sharing authentic flavours. The festival also features DJ sets, live entertainment, and a festive nightlife atmosphere throughout the evening. You can reach the festival grounds via the Parking Aloyse Meyer, Domaine Schlassgoart and Pompelhaus Schifflange.

4. Streetphoto expo

What: Light Leaks Festival
Where: Rotondes

Photography takes centre stage at Rotondes as the Light Leaks Festival returns for its 10th edition. Dedicated to street and documentary photography, the festival brings together exhibitions, workshops, conferences, portfolio reviews, and creative exchanges with photographers from Luxembourg and abroad. Visitors can discover inspiring photo series, browse photography books, meet local artists at the Bazaar space, and even showcase their own work on the Open Wall. Internationally renowned photographers including Myriam Boulos, Gabrielle Duplantier, and Nicolas Portnoï will also lead talks and workshops throughout the festival.

5. An experience for the whole family

What: Water festival
Where: Tadler-Moulin

Looking for a splash of fun this weekend? Head to the Sûre River for a day packed with water-themed adventures for all ages! Whether you come with family, friends, or just out of curiosity, there’s something for everyone – from interactive workshops and guided tours to meditation sessions and science shows. Kids can even build their own mini raft and send it racing down the river for a chance to win fantastic prizes! And don’t miss the big highlight of the day: the spectacular mini-raft race grand finale on the Sûre River.

6. Fairtrade breakfast

What: A lovely brekkie

Start the day with a free coffee and fair trade treats at Schifflange Haff, from 8am to 11am. Expect a cosy atmosphere, music, and a chance to discover more about fair and sustainable consumption during the Fairtrade Weeks 2026. A small morning break that does good – for you and for others.

7. Worlds collide

What: Festival of Cultures
Where: Place du Marché, Zone piétonne et Parc Gerlache, Differdange

The Festival of Cultures returns to Differdange for a weekend celebrating music, dance, food, and traditions from around the world. Concerts, performances, workshops, and food stands will take over the city across multiple stages and venues, creating a lively atmosphere centred around discovery, diversity, and sharing.
