Xavier Bettel announced the collective’s creation during his state of the nation address in October. The Citizen’s Climate Bureau starts this Saturday with an online conference from 2 to 3.30 pm. The event will start with a welcome from the Prime Minister and continue with presentations from various climate experts.
The citizens’ collective will be tasked with finding solutions to global warming. Chosen via a submission platform, the group is composed of 100 people living or working in Luxembourg.
Until the beginning of July 2022, the citizen’s bureau will meet in about 15 meetings to discuss the following question: Can and does Luxembourg go further in the fight against global warming? And if so, how?
This cross-section of the population will also be able to put forward ideas for Luxembourg’s climate policy. These proposals will eventually be debated in Parliament and may even influence the new version of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Change Plan (NECP).
