Over three-quarters of the cases were accidents at the workplace.
There were also 3,649 commuting accidents and 127 cases of occupational diseases.
These figures can be found in the annual report of the Accident Insurance Association (AAA), which also states that 16 accidents resulted in fatalities.
In 2019 there were 323 fewer accidents than in 2018, even though the number of workers has risen sharply.
The AAA received an average of 134 reports per day in 2019. An accident at work cost an average of €3,571 that same year.
