
"2020 was an endurance test for our society, our health, our economy, our emotional states of mind, as well as our democracy", Etgen stated during his review of the past year. Nevertheless, he also recognised positive developments in the country, most notably around solidarity and helpfulness. The chamber president further praised the Luxembourgish parliament, which remained able to fulfil its role throughout the pandemic.
Laurent Scheeck, the Chamber's new secretary general, used the opportunity to talk about the administrative challenges of the pandemic, such as the launch of new parliament websites and digital tools to foster public dialogue. He further noted that efforts still needed to be increased to allow for a quicker administrative handling of unexpected situations.
