On Tuesday the police and experts from the Ministry of Transport collaborated for a large-scale lorry traffic check on the A3.
In total, officers stopped 40 lorries. The tally of infractions was considerably high, as the police report. Officers had to issue fines for 32 different infractions.
Whilst a majority of those lorry drivers were fined for not having adequately secured their cargo or for ignoring the mandated rest times, one was fined for something slightly more unconventional: a driver had installed a gas hob in the lorry cab, as he wanted to be able to prepare tea whilst driving.
Other lorries were criticised for their lack of labelling their cargo, which should alert rescue teams to dangerous cargo in case of accidents.
In these instances drivers were able to continue with their journeys once they had made the neccesary labels visible once more.
