
LISER's study revealed that 46% of employees felt they did not have the correct skill-set for their positions. 25% said they felt overqualified, while 21% said they lacked certain skills required for their roles. The disparity is said to be due to globalisation and rapid technological evolution at works.
The best solution for both workplace and employee would be further training and targeted qualifications, according to the study. Although those who consider themselves overqualified would respond well to further responsibility and demands, those who feel under-skilled would benefit from training provided by the employer.
