
The aviation sector was struck badly by the pandemic, and the number of passenger is comparable to the levels recorded in 2003. Throughout the global sector, air travel has decreased by 71%.
Despite the airport's closure during the first lockdown from March til May, Findel was a key hub for emergency services, distributing Covid-19 patients across hospitals and continuing global rescue operations.
The airport has further received a sanitary certificate by the Airports Council International, guaranteeing top sanitary standards. A new parking system allows for passengers to reserve and pay for a parking space in advance, therefore avoiding cash machines and further contact with surfaces.
