Dr. Thérèse Staub, a virologist at CHL, said the figures seen over recent days were unprecedented, with around 10% of all those infected with Covid hospitalised as a result. However, hospitalisations were only occurring at least two weeks following confirmation of infection.
Dr. Staub expressed deep concerns over the rapidly rising figures published by the Ministry of Health this week, and the consequences for the country's hospitals.
