"Gender equality is not abstract; there are concrete step-by-step measures businesses can take," Bofferding noted during the presentation. The programme "Positive Actions", which was first initiated 20 years ago, is the government's main tool of encouragement for businesses to commit to a sustainable plan for gender equality in the workplace.
Bofferding explained that the programme had long been a necessary incentive, but that the situation in 2020 had changed and therefore a new version was in order, especially since the beginning of the outbreak.
80 businesses from various sectors with employee numbers ranging between 50 and 1,4000 are currently participating in the governmental programme, which provides an external consultant who analyses a company and compiles a strategy plan for potential improvements.
The new version of "Positive Actions" reduces the time period from 3 to 2 years.
