The cultural sector has been especially hit by the corona crisis and the related waves of event cancellations.

Minister Sam Tanson (déi Gréng) recently elaborated on the situation of the Grand Duchy's culture sector in a session of the respective Chamber commission. Apart from the 85 independent artists, 202 further people are registered as temporary event organisers.

The social fund for culture spent around €3 million in financial aids over the course of the first eight months of 2020, the same amount that was used in 2019 for the entire year.

Last year in February, CSV demanded an orientation debate on the cultural policies for the period from 2018 to 2028. Djuna Bernard (déi Gréng) was put in charge of setting up a respective dossier ahead of the meeting. Meanwhile, there will also be special assembly on the grievances of the sector on 26 October.
