The summer of 2021 was the second wettest since records begain in 1854, with an average of 336 mm of rain.

AgriMeteo has released its meteorological analysis for the period of 1 June 2021 to 31 August 2021, using the data from 32 weather stations across the country. It reveals that this summer was 0.5 degrees colder on average than the last few years. The only year with more precipitation was 1931 with 388mm. Luxembourg City was even managed to set a new record with 397 mm of rain, while Koerich, Wincrange and Mamer experienced their wettest summer since 1951.

June was warmer than usual on average, with high temperatures in the second and third week, leading to local thunderstorms and increased rain. July was characterised by lower temperatures than average and record rains. In fact, July 2021 was the wettest since records began, with an excess of 193 mm on average. During the extreme floods on 14 July, weather stations measured between 62.6 mm of rain in Remerschan an a new record of 105.8 mm in Godbrange. Temperatures in July were below the seasonal average and despite the rain, some areas of the country were slightly too dry.

The cold and wet weather has also led to delays in the harvest, which is not yet completed in the Oesling region.
