The query concerned demands to implement a medical centre in the east of the country - a concept which has been flouted for some time now. However, Lenert argued in favour of multiple sites in order to guarantee better medical care in this part of the Grand Duchy.

Engelen raised the query in response to the January announcement that the current centres in southern and central Luxembourg would be replaced in summer 2021, and that authorities were seeking a site in the north. He asked whether similar plans were afoot for a centre in eastern Luxembourg.

The Minister of Health explained in her response that the eastern regions cover a fairly large area, from north to south of the country and that a single site would not offer a satisfactory solution. In addition, such infrastructure would also require additional medical resources.

Lenert said this was the reason that national health authorities were in favour of several medical sites around the region, to facilitate access to medical care, and would mount plans accordingly.
