Cancellations at Luxembourg's establishments have increased since Belgium and Germany named Luxembourg as a risk zone.

A hotel in Clervaux has been overwhelmed with calls to cancel reservations over the last two days, with the majority of customers hailing from Belgium - around 20%.

Customers cancelling their stays have cited the high number of new infections in the Grand Duchy as their main concern. They allegedly do not understand how or why so many people are being diagnosed with coronavirus in the country.

This particular family-run hotel opened in Clervaux 150 years ago. At the moment, the majority of reservations belong to Luxembourg residents.

The entire sector put in immense effort to reopen following lockdown, using the "Safe to Serve" message to guarantee customer safety.

Representatives of Horesca said the safety measures were adhered to and it was not right to punish proprietors. They also deplored the lack of consistent messaging throughout the EU during the crisis.
