InflationAnnual inflation fell to 1.9% in December

As STATEC's latest press release announced, the annual inflation rate fell to 1.9% in December.

In the previous month, the annual inflation rate was at 2.3%

The press release detailed that the price index of national consumption had fallen by 0.3% compared to November, which is predominantly attributed to the fall in fuel prices.

Fuel prices fell by 5.8% over December.

As for the prices of goods and services with the exception of fuel products, these remained stagnant compared to November.

STATEC did highlight some small instances of both higher and lower pricing which were globally hidden by the general stagnation.

The prices of food products fell by 0.7%, with the largest drop in price affecting fruit (-5.7%).

As for rising prices, these occurred in services such as vehicle rental and parking spots (+11.9%), watchmaking (+1.6%), interior furniture (+1.3%), and hairdressers' (+0.3%).
