The theft occurred around Rue Adolphe Krieps, where a group of 15 young men was said to be congregated.
Shortly after the victim's bicycle was taken, he approached the thief. The two exchanged words, before the latter struck the victim in the face, then proceeded to beat and kick him.
The assault continued as far as rue du Chemin de Fer, where a passerby intervened and called the police. The assailant managed to escape, while the victim was left with serious injuries.
