Parliamentary enquiryAre mobile speed camera trailers legal?

Minister for Internal Security Henri Kox provided an answer to this question, posed by MP Marc Goergen from the Pirate Party.

In October, Goergen noted that “an unhitched trailer” cannot be parked between 10pm and 6am. In his official response to the enquiry, Minister Kox acknowledged that the road traffic act really does state so, but also cited an additional phrase, which notes that exceptions are made for “vehicles operated by agents in charge of monitoring circulation.”

Mobile speed cams along roadsides and construction sites are thus legal, and particularly efficient as well: One such camera installed alongside a construction site on the French A31 motorway flashed more than 57,000 motorists in the span of three months. Similarly, a mobile speed cam on the Luxembourgish A4 motorway flashed more than 5,000 drivers in just two days.
