The mayor of Echternach, Yves Wengler, criticised the Ministry of Culture and Sites et Monuments in an RTL interview last week, saying they were unnecessarily dragging out the repair works. The park along the Sûre river is property of the government.
Yves Wengler confirmed on Tuesday that the authorisation had been handed in to the council on 23 December.
The flood damages in the park have been slated at around 400,000 Euros.
