Shortly before noon, two 60mm mortar grenades dating from the Second World War were found on a construction site near the barracks. The bomb disposal service then detonated the charges in a controlled manner.

The roads around the barracks were completely closed to traffic during the operation, but the Herrenberg site itself did not have to be evacuated, as the bomb disposal service said.
