
Police released a warning about large amounts of smoke emanating from the site of the accident, which could impair visibility.

Although the accident occurred in the direction of Luxembourg, traffic jams developed in both directions, as far back as the Croix de Gasperich interchange for those heading south, and as far as Bettembourg for those heading towards the capital. At 4.30pm, traffic was still slow in both directions.
