1 March 2020 is also the day that public transport is due to become free in the Grand Duchy, a move that will be accompanied by additional staff on location.

The press conference on Monday morning at the Ministry for Sustainable Development revealed a number of other changes.

These include, for example, the removal of ticket offices in Bettembourg, Pétange, Rodange, Mersch, Ettelbrück, Clervaux, Troisvierges and Wasserbillig. National, regional and international tickets or passes can be purchased at Luxembourg's Central station or the Belval-University station.

The 16 employees affected by the closing of these stations have been offered other positions within CFL.

A TICE sales point is located at the Esch-sur-Alzette station to serve customers requiring first class tickets, as well as cross-border workers using buses. Other tickets and services will be available online, on apps (CFL mobile and CFL international) or can be made via the CallCenter or telephone information services.

Finally, further Wi-Fi access points and CCTV cameras are also being installed. The use of tablets will allow CFL personnel another means of being in contact with customers, streamlining communication channels.
