After several days of spring-like conditions, winter appears to be on its way back to the Grand Duchy this week.

According to the Meteolux forecast, a depression over central Europe has introduced a cold front and a significant drop in temperature, explaining the cooler conditions over the past few days.

On Thursday, Luxembourg’s skies will be overcast, with light rain predicted to gradually turn into sleet and snow as the temperatures drop into the evening, particularly in higher altitude locations in the north of the country.

Although the snowfall is predicted to be less than 1cm, the north will see temperatures lingering at around 0°C on Thursday evening. In the south, temperatures will remain between 2 and 4°C, with rain showers forecast.

Similar conditions will persist on Friday, with cloudy skies and mixed rain and snow showers across the country. Expect freezing temperatures on Friday morning, rising no higher than 3°C during the day before experiencing a further drop in the evening. Temperatures will remain low this weekend: between -2 and 0°C on Saturday morning and no higher than 5°C in the afternoon, dropping as low as -4°C on Sunday morning and rising to 5-7°C in the daytime.
