Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic ResearchChildcare service voucher scheme has positive impact on mothers at work

RTL Today
The scheme has been in place since 2009. Researchers from the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) summarised their findings from the University of Luxembourg.

The employment rate has increased by 4-7 percentage points, with the working hours per day increasing by 3 hours.

The effect is strongest for mothers with lower education levels, for non-Luxembourgish mothers and for single mothers.

Parents whose youngest child is under 3 years of age profit the most from structures such as crèches or other childcare options, for longer hours. More information on the study can be found here.
