The traffic jam was reported to be five kilometres long at 6.30pm.
The tailback was caused by a collision between two cars on the A3 that occurred just after 6.15pm at the level of the Berchem service station. Vehicles from the Luxembourg City and Hesperange fire brigades were dispatched to the scene and took care of one injured person, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) stated in its report on Friday morning.
The left lane was blocked for the duration of the rescue operation.
In the middle of rush hour, the traffic jam went back as far as the A1 and A6 motorways. At around 8pm, traffic was once again back to normal.
