Engel used the CSV assembly on Tuesday to ask his colleagues for forgiveness for having blindsided them with his public comments on tax reforms. He further noted that his apology was accepted and that there was a renewed desire in the party to open a dialogue on policies.
The CSV assembly, which was held in digital format, lasted for a total of three hours. Engel assured listeners that he would not make private comments while being in his official function in the future to avoid any further confusion.

Meanwhile, CSV decided to introduce a new agenda on social issues, which is set to be presented by Engel and his colleagues on 14 September during the party's national assembly.
Engel moreover expressed his concern over the conduct of the current administration. He believes that large amounts of debt are being accepted too easily, a way of governing that will eventually take a toll on future generations.
