The future of the ADR partyContinuity is key: Fred Keup

RTL Today
The newly sworn-in MP from the Alternative Democratic Reform Party was a guest at RTL Radio on Thursday morning.

Keup first became a notable figure in Luxembourg's public debate in 2015, when he was at the forefront of the "Nee 2015" initiative, which argued against foreign citizens being given the full right to vote. While he is no longer an active voice in that matter, he has now moved into the Chamber of Deputies to replace his long-serving party colleague Gast Gibéryen:

The former geography teacher further stated that the party's priority areas were to remain family, country, language, culture, and education.

After his involvement in the 2015 referendum, Keup became subject to a row of accusations of xenophobia and having driven his party further to the right. He was further mocked and insulted by Luxembourgish rapper Tun Tonnar in one of his songs, for which Keup went to court. Tonnar was eventually acquitted by a court of law:

When it comes to migration policies, the MP believes that we should increase our efforts abroad to better the situation of those in need, instead of simply welcoming them in Europe.

Keup finally took his time to criticise the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn for his behaviour on the international stage, arguing the LSAP politician lacked manners when talking about foreign nations on whose partnership the Grand Duchy relied. Keup also believes that the members of the coalition would no longer be on the same page. The State of the Nation address lacked vision, the ADR politician concluded.
