SACEMCoronavirus crisis a source of inspiration for many artists: Marc Nickts

RTL Today
The director of the Society of Musicians, Composers and Music Editors (SACEM) was a guest on RTL Radio on Tuesday morning.

Even though an increase in the use of streaming platforms has become noticeable since the beginning of the outbreak, the loss of direct income from cancelled shows cannot be made up for, according to Nickts. Some parts of the industry are currently registering 70% losses.

SACEM is an association that represents artists and aims at protecting copyright. There are currently around 1,200 active people in the music industry in the Grand Duchy, out of which 450 regularly generate rights. Despite the gravity of the situation, Nickts does not believe that the crisis has yet forced any musician to give up on his or her craft. On the contrary, as it appears the pandemic has evolved into a source of inspiration for many.
