The Court of Auditors published its evaluation of the proposed 2022 budget on Monday morning. The institution has formulated a number of recommendations to increase the government’s spending transparency and improve investment continuation.

The Court laments that there is no centralised data on the financial, social, sanitary, as well as ecological impacts of natural disasters. The forming of an Environment Cell could help improve this, the Court notes. They also desire a better continuation of Covid measures and increased transparency over the spending of specialised investment funds.

The Court further criticises the government’s handling of the LUXEOSys military satellite, as foreign specialists needed to be hired due to a lack of trained personnel in the Luxembourg Army. The Court recommends that the government launch a long-term programme to build its own team of experts.
