
The coronavirus variants, especially the British variant, are causing more infections and therefore risking a third wave in Luxembourg.
The Covid-19 task force concluded that 57% of infections are from the British variant, and further estimates that the variant is 39% more infectious.
Despite schools having been closed, the number of newly infected has increased. The daily average this past week was at almost 200 cases a day. The R rate, which is currently around 1%, predicts a rather pessimistic trend compared to last week.
The task force underlines that, especially right now, it is crucial that we respect the sanitary measures to break the infection chain and prevent a third wave.
