DP party president Corinne Cahen and LSAP Vice Premier Etienne Schneider confirmed earlier reports from the Lëtzbuerger Land newspaper.

The Christian Social People's Party approached both the Democratic Party (DP) and the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Parties (LSAP) with suggestions concerning a new alliance. Both parties refused the offer. Members from neither political party were willing to reveal who it was that contacted them and said it was up to the individual in question to come forward.

DP party president Corinne Cahen confirmed that she had indeed been approached by a CSV party member to ask whether they were ready to enter a new coalition, to which she responded that they were not. She explained that she was committed to a blue-red-green coalition until 2023.

LSAP Vice Premier Etienne Schneider also substantiated the reports of being contacted by an intermediary. He similarly said that he had politely declined the offer.

In response to whether the criticisms aimed at Minister for the Environment Carole Dieschbourg had caused a political crisis, Corinne Cahen said she did not get this impression at all. She explained that stability and good working conditions had not been negatively impacted. Etienne Schneider, in return, said that "garden shed" affair in Differdange would by no means lead to new elections, and that the governing parties would continue to stick together.
