This follows a joint observation mission undertaken by the ombudsmen last year, after the centre was criticised due to capacity issues, as well as its unclear objectives. In 2022, young inmates at the facility staged a riot, injuring employees and police officers on site.
Monti and Schmit held an initial exchange on Wednesday in order to discuss how best to resolve the current issues. They agreed to allow the authorities, in particular the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice, some time to analyse the situation in detail and to implement the recommendations.
According to a statement issued by Monti and Schmit, they want to make it available to the general public by early July at the latest.
