In Esch-sur-Alzette, a break-in was reported at around 1.30pm on Saturday. A police patrol attended the call-out and found the suspect inside the property. They later found a suspected accomplice at a nearby bus stop. Upon searching the suspect, officers found stolen items from the targeted residence. The public prosecutor's office ordered the man's arrest, and he will face an investigating judge in due course.
On Sunday morning, a woman had a necklace ripped from around her neck while exiting the tram at the Place de Paris tram stop in Luxembourg City, at around 8am. The suspect ran off with the stolen necklace, while the assault caused the woman to fall and injure her face. She received medical treatment at the scene, before going to hospital for further checks. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
Shortly before 5am on Sunday, police in the capital noticed a car with all its lights flashing, parked on Boulevard Royal. One of the windows had been smashed open, and officers detected traces of blood on the vehicle. Later, they came across a man with bloody hands on Avenue Amélie. When they attempted to stop the man, who was visibly intoxicated, he tried to run away, and became aggressive when officers tried to handcuff him. Police have opened an investigation into the matter.
