Besides President of the Commission André Bauler a second rapporteur from the CSV is yet to be designated. No date has been picked for the debate.
The Finance and Budget Commission is drafting a document to talk to all relevant parties, including unions, the central bank, the environmental movement, as well as the tax administration.
"The question has been raised whether the land tax should be kept,
"The point has also been raised that the property tax should be included, because if the property tax were to increase it would have to include all other taxes in the counterparty. That means there is quite some work involved. I think there was a consensus that one should hear from a number of actors; people from civil society, tax authorities, the Chamber. We want out central bank to be included in the calculations", said CSV MP Gilles Roth.
The opposition finds it important that they can put forth suggestions and propositions, too, says Roth. The LSAP has not yet put forth their opinion on some issues, according to Georges Engel.
"From these consultations that we are conducting in that committee, we would like to have, above all, data, in particular data that we can rely on and that we can then incorporate into our deliberations. We also have a letter put forth to the Commission, in which we asked a number of questions, covering topics such as inheritance tax or wealth tax, and how to calculate these."
The Finance and Budget Commission will convene in January to pick a date for the debate in the Chamber, and when individual actors should be invited along to pitch their suggestions and comments.
