A crash involving a car and a camper temporarily blocked the A1 motorway and led to significant traffic delays on Friday morning.

A collision occurred at around 5.30am on Friday on the A1 motorway between the Irrgärtchen exit and the Howald tunnel, after a car driven by a motorist under the influence of alcohol crashed into a camper van. The impact caused the camper to overturn and slide sideways across the motorway, eventually coming to rest on its side.

As a result, the entire stretch of the A1 in that area was temporarily closed to traffic. According to police, both vehicles were later towed from the scene; however, because the central barrier was damaged in the crash and required repairs, one lane remained closed on Friday morning, causing ongoing traffic congestion. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
