Large-scale testingDéi Lénk criticises involvement of private actors

RTL Today
The leftist party (Déi Lénk) deplores the presence of many private actors, such as consultancy and law firms, in the government's large-scale testing campaign.

These private entities are notably involved in communication, the management of the hotline to answer questions from the population, and the analysis of the data collected by the large-scale testing campaign.

The Ministry of Health defended the decision by pointing to its lack of capacity in carrying out these tasks.

One of the objectives of the second phase of large-scale testing, presented by the government at the end of September, is to identify asymptomatic infected people and thus quickly interrupt chains of infection.

Déi Lénk criticised the lack of qualifications and experience of these private actors in this field. In addition, the party would like to see a change in public health policy in which all actors in the field, such as municipalities and social associations, would be involved.

For the sake of transparency, the party demands that contracts and agreements with all actors made in the framework of the fight against Covid-19 be made public.

For the Ministry of Health, this is an exceptional situation. Due to a lack of capacity to carry out these tasks, a call for tender was issued to the private sector.

A budget of €60 million has been earmarked for the second phase of large-scale testing, which will last until March 2021.
