Rail passengers travelling between Belgium and Luxembourg are being warned of potential disruptions to cross-border train services, as a national protest day has been called by several Belgian trade unions.

The action, which primarily targets government budget plans and includes strikes in the public sector, will affect rail traffic from 10pm on Sunday until 10pm on Monday.

Travellers are advised to check the CFL website for the latest information on service impacts and to plan their journeys accordingly.

The national strike is not limited to rail services. Bus networks in Wallonia, as well as metro and tram services in Brussels, are also expected to be affected throughout Monday.

Following incidents at a national demonstration last Friday, police are preparing for further possible confrontations with protesters on Monday.

However, authorities in Brussels have indicated that no large-scale central demonstration is planned this time, although they remain vigilant and on standby.
