Luxembourg's Chamber of Deputies foreign affairs committee is set to examine the Fridman case on Monday morning, following controversy surrounding the removal of Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman from the European Union's sanctions list.
MPs are expecting a detailed explanation from the government on how the decision was reached to delist Fridman, whose assets in Luxembourg were frozen after he was added to the sanctions list in 2022.
In response to the asset freeze, Fridman had demanded €16 billion in damages.
The government's involvement in advocating for the annulment of these sanctions has sparked criticism in recent weeks. Ministers are scheduled to clarify their position to parliamentarians during Monday's committee meeting.
